Devizes day one.
Organised as ever I had foolishly booked my flu jab for the same morning we were due to leave for our week's holiday.
Day one schedule.
8am left on time: John, myself, The cat (Gretna) and the dog (Monty) piled in the car to collect the Camper from its parking. Arrive at the yard and unload John, cat, dog, luggage, ukulele, pet food, and a few bits and bobs. Leave them there and drive to surgery for flu jab. Arrive at surgery 30 minutes early but luckily they can fit me in straight away as there have been a couple of no shows. Drive back to Camper, park car and off we go! This week there has been a petrol panic shortage so back to Tenterden for deasel on the way through, amazingly there were only a few cars queuing at the garage instead of the two mile tailback of the previous day. I can only assume that everyone in the neighbourhood has already filled their tanks to the brim and can't take any more,a quick stop off back home as we would be passing, I had forgotten my coat, John's pills and some groceries that we'd left in the fridge. Finally on the road but still only 9am.
So glad we filled up the deasel before leaving, no fuel on M25 or M3.
Now if there's one thing I have learnt about owning a mature motorhome In the short time we have owned one is that every venture involves a breakage so fingers crossed. But as you will see, nothing new here.
Lots of firsts here. The first time we have managed a whole week away. The first time we have needed to use the heating. The first time in Wiltshire.
Devizes ccc site is super. Easy to find, right by the Kennett and Avon canal and spitting distance to The three magpies.
Day one summery
In Wiltshire now. Not a great start lol.
😢Drove through a storm, 😁but its stopped raining now.
😢arrived to a pitch that looked like a pond
😁But got moved to a better one.
😢John stepped in the cat litter and shot it everywhere, luckily it was clean.
He then decided that setting up the other double bed in the dining area was a good idea. Dismantled the table and broke it, fixed now 😁 got it all bedded up with duvet etcetera before we went out for dinner.
Decided to leave the creatures at home. Got back to find that the cat had peed on the duvet. Made up fresh bed, knocked over wine glass, red wine all over sofa. Cat wanted to go out in the night but it was bucketing down so we didn't open the door. She failed to use the cat litter and instead peed on the rug. Chucked her out at this point. She's Home now.
All wide awake at 3am John Reading the beano and me a mag.
6.30 cat in, monty scratching and banging the floor like a drum. Tempted to chuck him out too. All awake!!!!!
This morning, duvet to wash, rug to wash, table repaired, cat litter sweeping, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣happy campers.
A brand new day.
